Simple to start, endlessly social. Four counts, close connection, and the dance you will use most on a night out.
120–150 BPM, counted in 4

Bachata comes from the Dominican Republic and is danced in four counts: three steps and a tap. The dance is close, relaxed and easy to start, which is why it has become one of the most popular social dances in Dallas. The basic is simple. Good bachata is about smooth weight changes and connection, not complicated patterns.
We teach bachata in private lessons at our Addison studio. You can come alone or with a partner. Lessons start with the side basic and the tap, then build toward the moves you will actually use on a social floor.
If you want a group setting, our beginner Latin group classes teach Rumba and Cha Cha. Both build the same hip action and timing that bachata uses. Many students take group classes and add a few private bachata lessons.
Two or three private lessons are usually enough to dance a comfortable bachata on a social night. Sensual and modern styling come later.
Weddings and receptions, galas, social dance nights, cruises and family celebrations. Every style we teach is chosen because you will actually hear the music and have a chance to dance it.
Posture and frame, timing with the music, lead and follow, and a short sequence you can repeat with confidence. Lessons are built around your goals, your schedule and your level.
