The social dance most students ask for first: quick, playful, and useful the moment you walk into a Latin night.
160–220 BPM, counted in 8

Salsa is a quick, playful partner dance built on six weight changes over eight counts. It is the style most adults ask for first because it is what you hear at Latin nights, weddings and festivals across Dallas. The basic step takes one lesson to learn. Leading and following it with confidence takes practice, and that is what our lessons focus on.
We start with timing. Most beginners struggle with salsa not because of the steps but because they lose the count when the music speeds up. We break the rhythm down, build the basic step on both feet, and then add turns one at a time so you are never guessing.
Salsa is taught in private lessons at our Addison studio, where Jelena can adjust the pace to you. You do not need a partner. If you want a group setting first, our beginner Latin group classes teach Rumba and Cha Cha, which build the same hip action and timing salsa relies on.
Most students can dance a simple salsa on a social floor after four to six private lessons. Turning patterns and styling come later. Start with an introductory coaching session and we will map out a plan around your schedule.
Weddings and receptions, galas, social dance nights, cruises and family celebrations. Every style we teach is chosen because you will actually hear the music and have a chance to dance it.
Posture and frame, timing with the music, lead and follow, and a short sequence you can repeat with confidence. Lessons are built around your goals, your schedule and your level.
