Slow, romantic and the easiest Latin dance to start with. One of the two dances in our beginner group classes.
25–27 bars per minute (100–108 BPM)

Rumba is the slowest of the Latin dances. It is counted in four with the step starting on beat two, and the slow tempo gives you time to think. That is why it is the dance we start beginners with. You learn Latin hip action, weight transfer and partner connection without the pressure of fast music.
Rumba is one of the two dances in our beginner Latin group classes at 18484 Preston Rd in Dallas. A single class is $25, or $30 for Rumba and Cha Cha together. No partner and no experience are needed.
If you want to move faster or prepare for a performance, rumba is also taught in private lessons. Rumba is a common choice for a slow, romantic wedding first dance when the song is in four and not in three.
After three or four group classes most students can dance a basic rumba routine with a partner. Styling, arms and competition technique come with private coaching.
Weddings and receptions, galas, social dance nights, cruises and family celebrations. Every style we teach is chosen because you will actually hear the music and have a chance to dance it.
Posture and frame, timing with the music, lead and follow, and a short sequence you can repeat with confidence. Lessons are built around your goals, your schedule and your level.
