Smooth, easy on the ear and made for live bands. The dance that works at every gala and wedding reception.
28–30 bars per minute (112–120 BPM)

Foxtrot is smooth and travels around the floor in long, easy steps. It fits most jazz standards and slow pop songs in four, which makes it the most practical ballroom dance for galas, weddings and any event with a live band. If waltz is for songs in three, foxtrot is for songs in four.
Foxtrot is taught in private lessons at our Addison studio. Social foxtrot is simple to start: we teach a basic that works on a crowded floor, then add turns and the promenade.
Many first dance songs are in four and too slow for swing. Foxtrot is usually the answer. We teach it as part of our wedding dance lessons when the song fits. Competitors will know foxtrot as one of the standard ballroom dances in DanceSport.
Four to six lessons give most couples a smooth, simple foxtrot they can dance to any slow song in four.
Weddings and receptions, galas, social dance nights, cruises and family celebrations. Every style we teach is chosen because you will actually hear the music and have a chance to dance it.
Posture and frame, timing with the music, lead and follow, and a short sequence you can repeat with confidence. Lessons are built around your goals, your schedule and your level.
