Upbeat and forgiving, and the dance that saves you at every wedding reception when the band picks up the tempo.
34–36 bars per minute (136–144 BPM)

East Coast Swing is upbeat, bouncy and forgiving. It is the dance that fits most big band, rock and roll and oldies songs, which is why it is so useful at wedding receptions and parties. If the band speeds up and the waltz does not fit, swing does.
Swing is taught in private lessons at our Addison studio. We start with the six-count basic: two triple steps and a rock step. From there we add turns and the lead and follow that let you dance with anyone, not only your regular partner.
Many couples learn a slow first dance and a short swing routine for the rest of the night. If that is your plan, take a look at our wedding dance lessons. We build both into one lesson plan so you are not paying for two programs.
Three or four lessons are enough for most couples to dance swing comfortably at a reception.
Weddings and receptions, galas, social dance nights, cruises and family celebrations. Every style we teach is chosen because you will actually hear the music and have a chance to dance it.
Posture and frame, timing with the music, lead and follow, and a short sequence you can repeat with confidence. Lessons are built around your goals, your schedule and your level.
